A couple of weeks ago, I took a much-needed self-care break from daily life and set off for a camping trip to one of Colorado’s most stunning spots—Maroon Bells. If you haven’t had the chance to visit, let me tell you, it’s a place that will take your breath away. The rugged peaks towering above the shimmering alpine lake, the golden hues of aspen leaves in the fall, and the sheer serenity of being so deeply immersed in nature—it’s an experience that sticks with you.
From the moment I stepped out of the car and into the fresh mountain air, I could feel the stress of daily life start to lift. Maroon Bells is a true escape from the busy world. The towering mountains and the peaceful quiet are a perfect reminder of how important it is to step away, reset, and find time for yourself.
I spent my days hiking through the winding trails, surrounded by the beauty of Colorado’s wilderness. The sounds of nature, the crunch of leaves under my boots, and the crispness of the air were revitalizing. There’s a special kind of energy that comes from being out in nature—it reminds you to breathe deeply, move with purpose, and appreciate your body for all that it can do.
And of course, even while hiking and adventuring, I made sure to carve out time for my favorite self-care routine—foam rolling. Yes, even in the middle of the mountains! After long hikes, there’s nothing quite like rolling out tight muscles under the stars. It’s a simple, portable practice that helps me stay connected to my body, no matter where I am. With a small foam roller packed in my gear, I’d find a quiet spot at the end of the day, lay out under the vast sky, and gently release tension from my legs, back, and shoulders.
Rolling out in such a peaceful setting felt different from my usual routine at home. The act of self-care, paired with the tranquility of the mountains, was a reminder that taking care of our bodies should be something we prioritize no matter the environment. Whether it’s at home, in the office, or even on a camping trip, our bodies deserve that attention and time for recovery.
The trip also brought me a renewed appreciation for balance in life—between movement and rest, activity and recovery. It’s easy to focus on getting through the day-to-day grind without realizing that self-care is what keeps us strong, both mentally and physically. Hiking for hours through the beautiful Maroon Bells wilderness was invigorating, but the recovery work—stretching, foam rolling, deep breathing—was just as essential to keeping my body feeling good.
As I spent those quiet nights under the stars, rolling out my muscles and breathing deeply, I reflected on how this simple practice is a tool for longevity. It’s not just about releasing tightness in the moment but about creating a habit of taking care of our bodies, ensuring that we move and feel our best for years to come. Foam rolling in the wilderness, surrounded by nature’s calm, was a powerful reminder of how small acts of self-care can ground us, no matter where we are.
Now that I’m back, I’m feeling completely refreshed and re-energized. The mountains gave me the chance to reset, reflect, and come back to my daily life with a renewed sense of purpose. I’m more committed than ever to helping others discover how recovery and self-care can transform not just how we feel physically, but also how we move through life with more balance and ease.
Whether you’re someone who’s always on the go or just trying to find a way to bring more balance into your life, remember this: it’s not just about pushing through the hard work, the long days, or the physical challenges. It’s about taking the time to recover, to be kind to your body, and to listen to what it needs. Sometimes, that might mean a few quiet moments on a foam roller under the stars, and other times, it might just mean giving yourself the grace to rest.
I’m excited to get back to working with you and helping you feel your best. If there’s one thing this trip reminded me, it’s that we all deserve the time and space to care for ourselves, no matter where we are. And I can’t wait to help you create more of that space for yourself too!
